APRICOT

IN GENERAL

The apricot tree is originating from Eastern Asia. Its cultivation was known in China since 2200 b.c. In Greece it is believed that it was brought by Alexander the Great. Apricot is an orange-yellow fruit, very fleshy, juicy with a rich sweet flavor and significant health benefits.

 

INDICATIONS – USES

It is extremely rich in vitamin A and contains carbohydrate, pectin, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, beta-carotene, iron, calcium, potassium and almost all other minerals and vitamins, while at the same time constitutes the main source of cellulose.

It has moisturizing, antioxidant and soothing properties. It contains no cholesterol and sodium. In traditional medicine its basic medicinal piece was the kernel. It is considered a source of life and longevity, while Nobel laureate G.S. Whipple, in 1934, featured apricot equivalent of the liver, regarding regeneration of hemoglobin.

Its properties make it particularly useful in cosmetology, since it moisturizes and soothes dehydrated skin.
