BIGARADE

 IN GENERAL

 The bigarade tree is very resistant to frost and drought. It belongs to the citrus trees. The fruit of the tree, bigarade, resembles orange, with the difference that bigarade is very bitter and is not eaten raw.

PROPERTIES – USE

The bigarades are used mainly in confectionery and distillery. From the flower of bigarade is obtained an essential oil, neroli which is used in perfumery and cosmetics. The bigarade flower extract is rich in vitamin C, flavones and other antioxidants, which are valuable ingredients in cosmetics. Traditionally it has been used to deal with the tension and various skin problems.
